Since Bulldogs are very popular in the USA and abroad, many people want to buy such dogs, but not everybody is recommended to own such a pet. Irresponsible ownership leads to the situation when the dog is surrendered to a shelter or rescue. There exist many volunteer organizations in the USA that help abandoned and homeless Bulldogs find new loving homes.
Such organizations accept Bulldogs from owners who cannot keep the dog any longer for various reasons. The major reasons for surrendering the dog are lack of time, financial problems and difficulties in the dog's behavior.
Rescues provide all necessary medical treatment and basic training prior to finding a suitable home. All dogs are placed into foster families for rehabilitation and assessment. Foster owners evaluate the temperament of the dog and help new families deal with their new pet.
Before being placed into new homes all dogs are spayed or neutered to help reduce the population of unwanted and homeless pets. So, if you plan to adopt a Bulldog and in hopes to breed it, you are mistaken.
Every prospective adopter has to fill in a questionnaire with a lot of questions about his/her dog ownership experience, living conditions, family members and other things necessary for every Bulldog owner. The adoption
fee for Bulldogs varies depending
upon the age and condition of the dog.
